The PESADO 58.5 tamper has been created to perfect the coffee tamping procedure. This tamper diameter is 58.5mm with a precision machined 90 degree edge to maximize basket coverage.
The sharp edges extend the effective tamping area and get full coverage of the basket, leaving no residue and maximizing consistency. Reducing un-tamped grounds means reducing the chance of channeling, and increased consistency over the coffee puck will result in a more even extraction and a higher extraction yield.

The Tamper That Started a Standard The Pesado 58.5mm Tamper is where the brand began — and it's the product that turned 58.5mm into an industry benchmark. Before Pesado, the standard 58mm tamper left an untamped ring of grounds around the basket edge, creating a reliable path for channelling with every shot. The Pesado tamper's 58.5mm diameter closes that gap as tightly as possible without risking a jam, and its precision-machined 90° edge extends the effective tamping surface right to the basket wall — leaving no residual grounds around the perimeter, no weak points in the puck, and nowhere for water to channel through unevenly.
90° Edge Engineering — Why It Matters Most espresso tampers use a rounded or bevelled base edge that rolls away from the basket wall, leaving a millimetre or two of ground coffee untamped at the perimeter. That untamped ring is soft, compresses differently from the rest of the puck under extraction pressure, and creates a consistent channelling point shot after shot. The Pesado's sharp 90° machined edge eliminates that entirely — extending the tamping area cleanly to the basket wall so the entire puck surface is compressed at the same pressure, the same density, and the same depth. The result is a more uniform, consistent extraction with a measurably higher yield per shot.
Fully Modular, Built to Your Setup The Pesado tamper is built on a modular system that lets you customise the handle to match your machine, your aesthetic, and your grip preference. Choose from a range of handle bodies — black or white POM, oak wood, or the signature Raya design — and pair with a metallic cap in black, bronze, gold, or silver, or a resin finish in Iris, Riga, Dusk, or Haze. The stainless steel base and handle combine for a well-balanced ~600g weight that lets gravity do a good portion of the work, reducing wrist fatigue over a long session. Compatible with the Pesado Depth Adjuster for repeatable tamping depth across multiple baristas or recipes. Available in 58.5mm for standard 58mm machines, and 53.5mm for Breville/Sage 54mm machines.
